Has anyone out there been told they have been fitted with the metal on metal hip replacements that can cause poblemsSad
Have been told I have these in both hips and have had to have a CT scan on surrounding tissue and blood test to check for Cobalt and Chromium posioning in blood, if all not 100% then they would have to replace them.
What is most annoying is that company knew back in 2005 there was a problem and didn't let on, I was fitted in 2007ThumbDown

Here's hoping with everything crossed that all is ok

Oh Joyce - that's so upsetting for you and I am praying like mad that there is no damage to your surrounding tissues or blood. My hip is ceramic so I don't have this problem.

Please keep us updated and take care.

Love Jean xx

update on my hip replacements.

had results back for bloods and there is metal showing up which is high compared to normal population, my consult says they are within acceptable levels but wants to re do them in 3 mth,as for the soft tissue around the hips there is evidence of a reaction but decided to leave well alone at the moment. Lets hope they don't get worse Unsure

Thanks for you all for thinking about me Love

Thank goodness for your latest results and it is good that they are now keeping a close eye on things. I'd be very angry if I was in your position (re them knowing there was a problem and still going ahead). I think you should get some professional advice on whether they should be offering an apology or even compensation. Sorry you're having to endure this. Life with RA is hard enough! Naomi x
